59.03 Freezing in April

The 2059 campaign has got off to a freezing cold start in April. The Monarchs are 5-7 with a -11 Rdiff and 3 games out of first place to start the season. Offensively this club is near the bottom of the GBC in almost every category including last in the league with a .219 avg. and 9th with a .294 OBP. Only 47 Monarchs have crossed the plate in 12 games which is 8th worse in the GBC. We are dead last with 86 total hits and a big part of that is we are 8th in the league with 84 strikeouts.

To help jumpstart this offense we made the move to aquire Masamichi Kubo who is coming off a 4.5 WAR season last season. We had some room under the cap and was able to bring him in, we are hoping he can strike some magic into this offense. Manager Jack Gulliver believes this is not a moment to panic, we have veteran guys in this club house and we believe the bats will come around. We don't anticipate a lethal offense but we think it will be a offense good enough to win more games than we lose. You only need to score 1 more run than your opponent each game and thats all we are asking for.

Speaking of pitching that is really the only thing holding this team together at the moment. The starters ranked 3rd in the GBC with a 4.36 ERA and the bullpen has been solid with a 4.77 ERA. The staff has been giving up a lot of hits 123 so far but have been able to limit the walks to keep them off the base paths. We are trying to improve the team defensively as well to better support our staff. Although Gulliver believes there is no need to panic he believes the next couple weeks we need to buckle down and snap out of this. The pitching staff is doing their part we need to do our part and get warmed up and snap out of it.
