2059.07 - Gerties Girls Stadium 4 - Chicago

Post by CTBrewCrew » Mon May 13, 2024 1:00 pm

April 10th, 2059 - Ah, my dearest companions, our latest escapade has brought us to the pig swamp, or as some might call it, Chicago's Vinnie Vitale Stadium. Oh, the stench of all that high fructose corn syrup still lingers in my nostrils, reminding me of our recent journey through the heartland. But fear not, for we have returned unscathed, and just in time for another thrilling baseball match between the Chicago Black Sox and the Des Moines Kernels.

Before we delve into the game, let me regale you with tales of our day of sightseeing in the windy city. Oh, the wild and wacky adventures we had! Mildred insisted we visit the Bean in Millennium Park, where we spent hours marveling at its reflective surface and taking selfies like teenagers. Ethel, always the daredevil, suggested we try our luck at skydiving, but we quickly nixed that idea in favor of something a bit more sedate: a leisurely stroll along the Magnificent Mile.

But perhaps the most scandalous part of our day was when dear Agatha revealed her secret liaison with none other than ex-Chicago GM Vinnie Vitale! Yes, you heard that right, my friends. It seems our Agatha has been keeping quite the juicy secret, and she finally spilled the beans over afternoon tea. Oh, the scandal of it all! They met at one of Vinnie's infamous soirées, an eyes-wide-shut affair where the champagne flowed freely and the secrets were as plentiful as the hors d'oeuvres.

But I digress. Let us turn our attention to the main event: the game itself. Oh, how the stadium smelled like a grease trap at a Red Lobster, but we paid it no mind as we settled into our seats, eager for the action to unfold before us. The Chicago Black Sox put on quite the show, led by the masterful pitching of Bobby Sherman, whose impeccable control kept the Des Moines Kernels at bay.

Pedro Rosales, bless his heart, had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the sixth, driving in two runs with a timely single to give Chicago the lead. And let us not forget the heroics of Mothuta Kalinda who came in to close out the game with a flawless performance on the mound.

As the final out was recorded and the crowd erupted into cheers, we rose to our feet with a sense of satisfaction, knowing we had witnessed another thrilling contest on the diamond. And as we made our way back to our lodgings, arm in arm and hearts full of memories, we couldn't help but reflect on the day's adventures with a sense of fondness and camaraderie.

But our journey is far from over, my dear friends. With each new destination comes a fresh set of challenges and delights, and we are ready to face them head-on, together as Gertie's girls. So, until next time, may our spirits remain high and our adventures aplenty.

Am I the only one that thinks these should be Features and not Team News?

And welcome back Vinnie! I bet he and Agatha shared a Tower of Pears.
