Tropics News 2059.08
The Hawaii Tropics lose pitcher Pedro Juarez in the Rule 5 Draft to the Madison Wolves but pick up reliever Mitchell Radnall from Bikini and SP Rashid Umrani from Nashville.
Hawaii Gm Jim Walker said, “Juarez was the odd man out and we left him unprotected. We hoped he wouldn’t be taken but that’s the risks you take. Radnall is a fan favorite and will probably displace Phil Thompson. I wasn’t thrilled with Thompson’s performance last season and is on thin ice. Radnall gave up 2.8 HR/9 last season in just 13 innings but was stingy in 2057 as he gave up 0.6 HR/9 in 56.1 innings. I’m hoping that ’58 was a small sample size and not what he actually is. I’m also hoping that Umrani can suppress the long ball a bit out of the bullpen and has the ability to start in a crunch. He hasn't pitched above AAA but he will be in a battle with Ed Jordan and Chih Kuang.

All three look like BBAish pitchers. Juarez is so young he’s probably my favorite since I assume those ratings are as a SP.

Radnall has been on my radar as a borderline BBA pitcher for some time (since he was in the SAC organization and I sullied my reputation over there). Wondering if he'll stick.
