.400 Watch

Post by Dington » Mon Feb 19, 2024 2:15 pm

Brooks Eliot is starting off hot after winning Monty Series MVP. He's currently hitting .427 through the first month+. There hasn't been a player to hit over .400 since Manuel Aguilar in 2003. L'Arch got close with .399 in 2042. Can Brooks pull it off?

No way? I think it's likely at this point. I'm putting him around .350 to end the season.

.300 career hitter. I think closer to that than .400 is a reality.

Jeez, did he seriously bump his infield range? You didn't even consider him a shortstop at one point.

I certainly didn't, but he improved his fielding a couple seasons ago. He's more than passable at SS now.

On a related note, I didn't know Aguilar was still the single-season leader in batting AVG. For some reason I thought Puckett had topped his .413...and just a few seasons after the tragedy.

I think staying over . 350 would be very hard in the current league environment.

I had some roster management fails and Eliot got exhausted and suddenly went cold. Bye bye .400.

A .300 hitter has maybe a 5% chance of hitting over .350 for a month.

It's maybe a half a percent to hit over .400 in a month. So he was probably super lucky.

Never expected to hit .400, but always fun when a guy starts the season on fire. Always hope.
