I remember these cutoffs seeming more harsh. I’m way under these limits.

Re: *** 2055 Season MiLB Age Restrictions Rule ***
Just realized for the first time that AA had an age requirement. At this point I'd like to take a moment and object to the high minors having age requirements.
There's a legitimate value in low minor leagues having the age requirements as it imbalances the teams structure,
However, if all the high minor leagues have age requirements we're basically force retiring viable players for no reason.
By the time a legitimate prospect gets to the high minors they should be able to compete at that level.
At any rate there should probably be a setting or an adjustment that could be made to make it so we don't have to make these decisions in-season; it's clunky and unnecessary.

As a corollary to this post, here are the MLB minor league restrictions:

I think age requirements make more sense for us, but experience-based requirements also sound okay if we can do something like that.

Re: *** 2055 Season MiLB Age Restrictions Rule ***
I can see the reasoning for certain players that don't fall into the standard age groups as they work their way up but I like the fact that the rule is set up the way it is. Odd number's ages starting at 27 in AA working its way downstream is very easy to remember and is starting to become second nature when looking at the minors. I need to get way better at learning my lower level guys and putting them in the correct roles but the age limits has not been an issue. Maybe because I am not at the in depth knowledge level yet.

I mean, if the problem is that we have 35 year old hangers-on in the minor leagues, two things:
#1: You have literally just destroyed the plot for Bull Durham. (This might not matter in the general scheme of things but since we're based on a baseball movie that seems a little bit relevant. )
#2: Set the limit to some arbitrarily high number for AA.

I'm good with the age limits as they are...feels like the guys too old for AA who are current FA should be at least thriving in AAA in the GBC (if not on the major league teams).
Now if we could just get a few select teams to field a pitching staff in the minors instead of 30+ hitters, we'll be really cooking with fire.

I have had exactly one guy age out of a level this year. It adds a new wrinkle.

Re: *** 2055 Season MiLB Age Restrictions Rule ***
I just don’t understand the pushback to this rule. If a guy is 27 and can’t make it out of AA, what’s the point of using up a roster space on him? I mean, I’m not arguing, I just literally do not understand; I’m obviously missing something.
I guess if you could fix it so that you could keep one overage guy on each team as a “player/coach” or something, that could be fun, but I doubt the game will accommodate that.

I hope some of those AAAA guys retire. Anyone over the age of 25 isn't really even a prospect and you can fill AAA with vets if you need injury emergencies. I think this will help speed up the talent reset and get some of the older players out of the league and we can see if the 6/5/5/5/6 prospects are actually more league average than we're used to.

I had a more than usual number of players bump ratings in Rooke league than in past seasons. One season is a small sample size. I dont know if there is a correlation between age limits and ratings bumps, but young players facing a set age group can't be bad.

Well yeah. The age limits for Rookie League were a very good idea.Jwalk100 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 4:07 pmI had a more than usual number of players bump ratings in Rooke league than in past seasons. Re: *** 2055 Season MiLB Age Restrictions Rule ***
I could see the argument that 27 in AA is a bit restrictive considering it isn't uncommon to see 28/29 year old college pitchers who lost time due to injury, career minor league guys who play utility/backup roles (Drew Maggi comes to mind as a recent example), or recent arrivals from foreign leagues/injury rehab who play in AA.
It's certainly not the main use case for AA, but it isn't out of the question given there are only so many AAA roster spots and below AA is for the youth.
However, I also know the spirit of this rule was also to help force retire some of the bloat in the player pool and encourage player development, so having a slightly stricter age limit here makes sense, too.
May be the kind of thing to revisit in a few seasons to see if it can be loosened by a year or two pending how the player pool looks as the Brewster gets less top heavy.

100% for age limits on A and below.
I don't mind 27 at AA, though I can see Aaron's point. If it were 29 or 29 in AA, that wouldn't be horrible.
