OOTP/MLB The Show
Hello,
This is not an article written specifically for the BBA, I had written it previously for a website I blog for. I just thought I might share it in this off topic forum, and OOTP is a main part of the article's focus. Thanks,

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
I’m afraid I’ve never got into console baseball as I’m just completely crap at controlling the players lol. So whatever great players I had it would all fall apart as the pitcher blows three straight strikes past you, the pitcher throws 25 straight balls or the fielder runs round half the outfield trying to get hold of the ball.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
Good article. You make some solid suggestions. As I've gotten older, I've played much less console games in favor of more strategic pc games, like OOTP. Actually, OOTP is the first game I ever played online or multiplayer. The human aspect and the non-pay-to-win part of OOTP online leagues is quite a draw.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
I'm heading in that same direction. OOTP is something I've only picked up on within the last 18 months but it is slowly but surely taking more and more of my gaming time over titles like The Show. Still, if franchise mode had more immersion I would probably still play one main franchise.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
Our playtime in OOTP is quite similar then. I started playing OOTP upon the release of OOTP20 last year and fell hard for it's tender smile, the curve of its hips, the way it laughs at all my... oh, shit, sorry... where was I going with this?hetz23 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 8:41 am

Anyway, I think you'll find the Brewster will make your transformation to OOTP from The Show complete with it's combination of highly competitive/strategic general managers who are generally (if you take @jleddy out of the mix) a group of great guys/baseball nerds. All layered on top of an in depth, ambiguous game engine. Although, you'll need to be patient and enjoy an UMEBA team when one comes open, then decide if the BBA is right for you when the time comes.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
Never got into MLB The Show, probably because I had Xbox 360, but MVP 2004 and MVP 2005 were two of the games that took up a lot of my time. I don’t think any console game has topped its mechanics, although franchise mode was terrible.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
I'm one of those guys who never really got into console games--or really any game that relies on realtime reactions other than racing simulations, which are a different thing altogether. I've always enjoyed the GM-ness and fan-aspect of board games, of which OOTP is essentially a grand-master of.
That's a good article, though. Good read.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
I hope MLB The Show takes advantage of the new gen consoles. I really like the game, but it's gotten tedious over the years. It needs a revamped franchise mode and road to the show needs to be expanded in some way.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
I actually played MLB the Show quite a bit this past year. Being home during COVID helped. My oldest son (16) played it religiously so I got into it some trying to build me a team and play online. I sucked at it but it was fun trying to acquire some of these high rated players from the past and open up packs of cards hoping for a rare player! I seemed to have good luck finding rare cards and it would kill my son at the luck I would have.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
So I was able to snag a order for new stock of the Xbox Series S at my local Best Buy late last week. Suppose to ready for pickup Sunday. Really looking forward to The Show on Xbox for the first time this year. Rumor had it, it was coming to PC as well but never heard anything official and it's not available for preorder.
I'm still a console gamer at heart. I just really lose interest in stuff like OOTP or FHM, especially offline.

Re: OOTP/MLB The Show
My dream has always been a melding of the show and OOTP but I can't imagine the processing and memory needed to make that happen.
Looking forward to the next gen version coming out, but if the fielding is like MLB The Show 20, I'll be disappointed.
