Brazini Mows Down 16 Blazers
Everything was working for Emilio Brazini today at Family Dollar Field. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The fastball was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 24-year-old Brazini fanned 16 Blazers and sparked the Charlotte Cougars to a 6-2 victory over Montreal. He left Blazers hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Charlotte manager Tom Chambers. "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 16 strikeouts over 7 innings, Brazini allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Brazini said with a smile.
For the year Brazini has a 10-6 record with a 3.74 ERA in 21 starts.

Noboru Gets Number 2500
It was a great day for David Noboru of the Vancouver Mounties -- but not a perfect day. He became the latest player to reach the 2500-hit mark, but his team lost the game. The 34-year-old third baseman got his hit in Vancouver's 5-0 loss to Louisville.
"It was a very special game for me, but not a good one for the team," said Noboru after the game. Commenting on his achievement to reporters, he told them, "2500 hits are a lot. It puts you in a very select group. You have to hit well over a lot of seasons to do this. It's a good feeling to have your name in the record books with the other guys who have reached this level."
He finished the day with 1 hit in 4 at-bats.
In his career Noboru has hit .295 with 2500 hits, 481 home runs, 1357 RBIs and scored 1400 runs.

Rabisca Files For Bankruptcy
Bucharest starting pitcher, Mateus Rabisca, filed for bankruptcy this morning in a Bucharest court. According to the Chapter 7 filing, Mr. Rabisca's restaurant chain lost $5.5 million last year. Among his assets, the starting pitcher listed over 2 million in Rolex watches.
Mateus has been quoted as saying, "What can I tell you? Those timepieces are the epitome of class. I can't say anything about my financial situation. Go through my lawyer."

Manama Pearls: SS Jesús Flores was injured in a collision at a base. The Diagnosis: Sprained ankle. He's expected to miss about 7 weeks.
