Omaha 11 - Madison 0
With the score 8-0 in the 9th inning, Madison was one out away from at least clinching a regular loss. But then James Monger singled. That was followed by an always impressive DOUBLE by Emilio Morales to make it 9-0. Pedro Garza followed that up with a 2-run homerun. And the rest, as they say, was history. David Rivas allowed all 3 runs in the 9th and Morales ended the contest 4 for 5 with 2 runs and 4 RBI, including a homerun as well.
Yellow Springs 12 - Des Moines 0
The Nine's 2 through 5 hitters terrorized the Kernels in this one, combining to go 12 for 20 with 9 runs scored and 7 RBI. Rex Foster had 4 of those hits which included a pair of homeruns that were hit in the 8th and 9th innings. Juan Lopes was the big loser for the Kernels as he allowed 5 runs on 4 hits and a walk in 1.2 innings pitched. Yellow Springs out hit Des Moines 18 to 6 in this one.
Long Beach 15 - Seattle 4
Stop the presses! Hold the phones!!!!!! Can it be true? Why yes, yes it is! The Surfers have themselves a FUBAR win!! They made it count as well, scoring 15 runs on 23 hits. Sean Maguire was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate which included 2 doubles, 4 runs scored, and an RBI. Mario Deortez had a pair of homeruns and a total of 4 hits in all. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 RBI. In all, the Surfers tallied 10 extra base hits! Ken Walter was roughed up in the start, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits in just 2 innings of work. Congrats to Lane for getting off the snide!
