Saint Sofia Tribune Is. 7

Sofia- Nigel Collyer probably never envisioned this.

In his first start with CSKA after being traded from Kuwait City, the baseball gods saw fit to have him face his old squadmates.

It.Did.Not.Go.Well.

The 6'4" righty with a 99 mph fastball and big curve barely had enough to record one solitary out in his debut.

The crib note version of his outing went like this: 2B, BB, 1B (run scored),WP,Fly Out,1B(run scored), Grand Slam, Triple.

Giving up a cycle in 1/3 of an inning is generally not a recipe for success in baseball...

The only positive for Collyer was that the Army bats were able to tie the game with a 5 run 3rd inning to take the young pitcher off the hook. Unfortunately, the bullpen would surrender a 4 run sixth, then a 5 run 9th for good measure.

Postgame, Collyer, still looking shell-shocked said "I definitely didn't have my best stuff today. Don't know if I was just too excited or what, but my curve had no bite and my fastball kept finding bats. Man that sucked! i threw what 25 -30 pitches? Well can't do much worse that that right?"

Lets hope not.

He didn’t fare much better in Kuwait either, unfortunately.
