Sabir Askeri (6-1) won his sixth straight decision in a row as he held the Pioneers scoreless for 6.2 inning while allowing only three hits. Hector Gonzalez pitched 1.1 innings of perfect relief before Fernando Guerrero locked it down for his 18th save of the season with a perfect 9th inning.

Edwin Gilliam (5-5) was the hard luck loser has he pitched all 8 innings while allowing only 2 runs.

The win improves the Canes’ record to 24-27.
