The prevalence of offensive positions in the HOF would tend to indicate that voters may not be taking positions into enough consideration.

Its hard...Pitchers dont have the longevity and/or the numbers which are typical HOF numbers in the MLB. (i.e., there are minimal 200-300 game winners). We (the voters) need to adjust our threshold for what qualifies as a HOF pitcher.

Maybe, and here is an idea for someone to get some PP...make up a listing/spreadsheet of all the stats for the current HOFers, so we can compare the current pool vs. those who have already been selected. Just a thought...

Well, we had an outstanding post about Hall of Fame qualifications that I'm sure we'll recycle next season before voting starts again.

It should create some inductees.

When we get full careers of VORP numbers, that will help somewhat. I suppose I could take the time to do some Win Shares stuff as well. That would also probably help. If people actually pay attention to that stuff, that is, rather than just ranking guys by homers or hits or some such.

Joe Belinda in 2002 becomes the first Phoenix Talon to enter the Hall. I suppose that means the missing Phoenix vote wouldn't have mattered!

Rockefeller becomes the Black Sox first Hall of Famer, and Gunga gives the 'Dads 4 HOFers to tie them for the most with the Wolves and the Bobwhites.

I was surprised to see a Mountie in there.
Scott Bucher.
.286 lifetime average with 180 home runs.
He did steal 587 bases.
That's about half of what Zebediah Williams stole.
Williams hit .285 lifetime and he's not in the Hall.

The Hall needs to be cleansed. :)

While I dont disagree, its always the old story of the Hall. Its not the best players of all time, necessarily, but the best players of their generation who get in. Sometimes this leaves guys like Jim Rice out too...

Gary Barr is the first inductee for the Greenville Moonshiners. That leaves Birmingham and Valencia as the only teams without representatives. Medric Wood and/or Damian Bedgood could become Birmingham's first inductees after they stop playing around in Europe. Devon Hyngary is about the only Valencia player with a shot as far as I can tell, and I don't see the voters liking him much.

Rogelio Morales is exactly what you'd expect a Hall of Famer to look like. I'm shocked someone left him off the ballot.
