Welcome to week 2 of Makeover Mondays. (Look I know its only Sunday night but I'm BOOOOOOORED). If you think about it, its technically Monday for USNspecialist, so I'm OK to post this. Up this week is my fellow Heartland compadre the Chicago Black Sox. This franchise originally started in Chicago, moved to Huntsville, then moved back to Chicago. Its one of only 2 franchises (Mexico City) is the other that calls a major metropolitan city home. My feature my rules

In 70 years, they’ve had 19 GMs, made 21 playoff appearances, been to 6 Landis Games and won 5 titles. Pretty good. But what's not too good? Their look.
Let’s take a look at the old one.
At first glance this seems to be the primary logo of the old Chicago White Sox logo from 1917. A large S with the O and X interwoven into it. Throw in some stars to boot, and there you have it.
This logos look is simple, its iconic, but is from an era a long time ago. Just like California last week nothing about this logo says baseball to the laymen. If you knew nothing of baseball you wouldn't say this logo is associated with baseball. Trust me, I asked my wife.

For those of you playing along at home, I'll Explain the rules again...
The Makeover had to meet these 3 criteria.
- First, incorporate something into the new logo that has a baseball theme.
- Second, use the teams existing color / uniform palette w/in the new look when at all possible.
- Third, try to maintain a connection to the team’s history.
My design style is pretty simple. If the logo looks good in black and white, you have a good logo. Second, I’m a big believer in less is more when it comes to colors for unis and logos. Some of my favorite sports logos have this look. (I’ll leave my two fav sports teams off) - <wink>. If you look at the Raiders, Packers, and Colts in the NFL, each has two colors or 3 colors in their primary designs. The Yankees, Dodgers, and yes, even the Red Menace themselves, the St. Louis Cardinals. All have what I consider a classic logos / color scheme. I could go on, but just note, I am a card-carrying member of Uni-Watch

Any-who, with-out further ado… your 2042 Makeover Monday Chicago Black Sox

As you can see in the new Makeover Monday of the Sox logo, I stayed with their primary colors of black and white. I added grey as a third color and removed teal. They had a teal in their uniform (why I have no idea), but it was so minor, and I like grey better so I got rid of it. (Again my feature my rules). For those of your familiar with Uni-Watch, teal is MY purple.

I kept the teams "S" from the teams original logo but used it in a different way. Its now intertwined it with a B and positioned over a baseball. This sits on a two grey circles, surrounded by the teams name (in their new font), and year established. This whole design then sits on top of a home plate.
Now on to their Hats & Uniforms
Hats: -- Only minor changes to the Sox uniforms and hat to bring them more into line with the over all makeover. Staying with the same color scheme (a black hat) but changed the brim color to be grey and changed the under brim to be green. I have also updated logo. They had only one hat for home/away, I kept that the same. Look it would have been waaaaaay to easy if I didn't include the "ox" on the hat, to start saying what this team is full of.

Old:

New:

Home Uni: - Don't know what happened in game here, but for whatever reason this is what I see for their uniforms in the saved data folder. However, in game I see a pinstriped version. They also have the same uniform for home and away. I updated that.
Old:

New:

I made sure to keep the pinstripes, I think its a good look for the team, and plays well with the updated logo. I got rid of the teal from the teams color wheel, and replaced the undershirt/color to be black. The teams updated logo (minus) plate is on the arm as a patch.
Road Uni: -- This was another team that had the same home-road jerseys (in-game), so I changed that. Again, my feature my rules

Enjoy!
