Anyways, back to who WE selected.
With our first round pick, we took catcher Robert "Cowboy" Bloomquist, the clear best selection available at that point, and one that was at a premium position. Cowboy is a 9/8/6/8/7, 4.5* talent who should be adequate behind the plate. Plus he fills the need for organizational catcher depth, which is really just a bonus.
With our second round pick, we took someone with far more intrigue. Jonathan "Tank" Salott is a third baseman.....or is he?? Unbeknownst to most that just perused the StatsLab and didn't bother looking in game, not only is Tank a 7/8/8/3/5 third baseman....but he's a 10/8/7 reliever!!! Now we have a choice - to develop him as a batter or a pitcher? We know that both numbers will move towards their potentials, but what would fit the organization better? Probably the pitcher. And it's a shame he doesn't have enough stamina to be able to start - it would have been really nasty to try and use him higher in the order. He's definitely a pitcher who can always hit for himself!
At the end of the 3rd round, we're already stepping into project mode. CF Joseph Ellis has decent tools (7/8/5/4/7), but he's mostly for defense and a little bit of speed. Can never have too many CF's and SS's! Even if they can't play there in the end, it's best to start them there and move them down the defensive spectrum if necessary
