Better late then never, here we recognize the players who had a great month of July before the team appeared to tailspin into complete and utter medioctrity in the first sim of August, 2002.
Third Basemen Bobby Hines, still officially a rookie, has done a fine job for the Bison this season anchoring the hot corner. The twenty-six year old from Houston continued his impressive season in July, hitting a robust .340 in 24 games, going 33 for 97 with four doubles and two home runs. While he only scored nine runs in the month, he has mostly been batting sixth in the order, and I can't blame him for the guys behind him not being able to drive him home.
For the year (through August 10th) he is batting a fine .300, and has earned the right to play that position every day. If his skills continue to increase, I can see him being in Buffalo for the next decade.
On the mound, we will turn our attention to Amen Mitrani who continues to be one of the premier starters in the Frick League. In July, all he did was go 5-1 with a 2.85, giving up 48 hits in 47.1 innings, and only walking 8 while wiffing 46. Constantine has been virtually a machine for us, and we welcome his fantastic skills every time he takes to the mound.

Mitrani is certainly shaping up to be a Hall of Famer. Long way from his 20 loss rookie season, hey?

I have been thinking about doing a player profile of him, however, I am fearful of the injury bug slapping him just as he enters his big contract. And yes, at 31, I think he may have a great case for the hall if he can continue to be solid for the next 5-7 yearsrecte44 wrote:Mitrani is certainly shaping up to be a Hall of Famer.
