Hot Take: We hate Des Moines. We hate how its name is two words. It couldn’t just go with one, like Pestilence? We hate that Des Moines uses a pretentious “Des” instead of a populist “De” or the factually inarguable “Duh”; we hate that Moines sort of sounds like Moist, which is just gross; we hate the creepy corn logo with the face; we hate that it’s in Iowa … We hate Des Moines. We hate that the Kernels sort of suck against everyone else, but bat us around like a cheap cat toy. We hate that you drive by Des Moines on the way to Omaha, who we also hate. But we digress. Our point is this: we hate Des Moines … Ok. We feel better now ... Except for the part of our brain that contemplates Des Moines. It’s still boiling over with hatred and marveling over the resemblance between the Iowa capital and a festering heap of slag … Did we mention that we're not overly fond of Des Moines? Well, pull up a chair. This'll take awhile ...
