Due to the overly busy life of the GM (yours truly), some things may have gone unnoticed. A bunch of the Tropics kids from the farm have been brought up and are starting to come into their own. Couple that with a few veterans, and young established guys, and the Tropics have runoff a hot streak to climb above .500. Let's see who these kids are.
Alaric Wullenweber
Unless you've been living under a rock, Alaric needs no introduction. Currently the league's top prospect, something we're not used to here, Wullenweber is starting to look like the ace he projects to be. Speeding through the minor leagues in two seasons, Wullenweber got the call at the end of April. In 15 starts he's only 3-5, but he has a 3.96 ERA with 92 K's in 86.1 innings. Not bad for a 21 year old.
Felipe Lopez
Lopez is another 21 year old with a bright future ahead. His BAPIP is showing us that he's getting hit around a little, but with an ERA that's been hanging around 4.00, the team will continue to be patient. He too has struck out at least one per inning and can hang with the best.
Jesus Gonzalez
Surprise! Yet another 21 year old pitcher. Gonzalez will eventually settle into a role where he is the 4th or 5th starter. He relies heavily on his stuff to make outs, stuff that isn't fully developed yet. Expect him to get better and better though and become a serviceable starter option for Hawaii.
Gary Allen
the 20 year old Allen has taken over the starting third base job. It's a job he hopes to hold onto for 15 years. In 129 AB's he has slashed .302/.366/.581 with seven homers and 28 RBI. His glovework has left a little to be desired, but you can have it all. Does anyone need a 3B? Take a look at Dave Tallent!
Bastiao Fardos
Last but not least, the 20 year old Fardos has also made his mark. A bit of a liability in the field, Fardos is a dynamo against RHP. He is slashing .323/.385/.569 in 232 AB's over 70 games. The glove hasn't been bad, he actually has yet to commit an error. His ZR of -2.5 is more the issue.
So there you go. It would appear that the future is now, although there is more talent on the way once some of these others get out of the way. Don't look now, but the Tropics are streaking!

Wow ! Wullenweber is the poster boy for the Florida Prospect League. The BBA’s #44 prospect before spending time at Winter Ball, came back the #2 prospect. All his hard work there obviously paid off.

Agreed. He made a huge jump. Had him as a RP too to limit innings.

I always paid a lot of attention to winter ball as you could get good improvements with the players you sent there. Some people are really worried about the injuries you could get but I think the benefits outweigh the possible hardships
