Petition for 2040 Custom Amateurs
Seeing as time got away from us this season and we were unable to provide custom amateurs, I thought it would be fantastic to add the following names to the amateur ranks. The names come from a 1990's SNES baseball game known in Japan as Fighting Baseball.
Sacramento Mad Popes
-- Vic Caleca Team News Award Winner 2052
-- BBA Champion 2053
— The Heartland Sucks
-- Pacific Champs 2040, 2042, 2043, 2047, 2048, 2049, 2051, 2053, 2054, 2058
Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

Re: Petition for 2040 Custom Amateurs
I voted for stupid, just because it would mean a lot of work for Recte. I'm guessing/hoping custom ammy's return next year with the expansion and re-alignment behind us. But even if it doesn't, doesn't change my love for this league.
That said, I already have nine years of custom ammy's already lined-up in a Word doc. But I appreciate the post and got a genuine chuckle out of it.

Re: Petition for 2040 Custom Amateurs
I dont get a vote, since I'm not a GM, but while I'm reading Brewster posts for a few days, I thought I'd comment. I love this idea. But yeah it's probably a lot of work for Recte.
It would also be fun to find a pre MLBPA liscense game, and use a bunch of the names they made to sound like star players.
A long time ago when I ran an FPS/BBPRO league, and you had to edit the draft every year because the game would only make crap players, I'd change 40-50 of the top player names based on various themes I chose, and wait for people to figure it out. I had like ten or so of these rady, but only got to use a handful. The one where I did early 19th century horror authors and people who played guys in masks in scary movies was particularly fun for me. Some were more obvious, like when the entire draft was Simpsons characters. I'm still sad I never got to see how Kent Brockman's career turned out.

I was in a random debut BBPro league for a very long time. I still have an excel file somewhere with countless names of players and the years they would debut. It was pretty cool. I liked BBPro, miss it sometimes.Ted wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:19 pmI dont get a vote, since I'm not a GM, but while I'm reading Brewster posts for a few days, I thought I'd comment. It would definitely be some work. I like the names though.

Re: Petition for 2040 Custom Amateurs
I always like the custom ammy idea. Always tried to partipate when we have it.
I've always preferred to have the Dan-Sing Nancies of the league over the 4,000th Jose Garcia, or Luis Garcia.

Re: Petition for 2040 Custom Amateurs
Aren’t their mods on the forums already for random name generations of new players ? Perhaps to save recte additional work these names could just be entered into that process.

My kids have made up this fictional character name they use in every video sports game. Bane McCoy

I enjoy the custom ammys. I have a good list of names. Some of my faves are Yu Vgotmael, Sparr Khianderson , and Hugh Mangrouthormone.
