Beirut Dugout Dirt - Playoff Contention ?

Post by DugoutDesperado » Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:52 pm

After a 6-0 sim pushed the Beirut Cedar record to 59-53 and 5 games out of the wildcard spot in the BANC, the radical fans in the Cedar camp are murmuring if a playoff run could be possible. The rest of the fans are feeling giddy as the Cedars are within 5 games of the win total for all of last year (2039 record was 64-98).

Since the Cedar beloved GM is a numbers guy, he has put out the following facts that may douse the playoff talks somewhat.

The Cedar record against the BANC is 30-42 while the record against the BURT is 29-11. While there are still 32 games left against the BURT, the final 18 games are against teams in the BANC which could spell demise for the Cedars. When asked by the press on the progress of the 2040 Cedar campaign, the front office responded "We are enjoying it while it lasts, but stranger things have happened in the world of baseball - so we will see where we are sitting come September."

That disparity in the record between the two leagues is interesting. If that continues to play out, it would set up a very interesting race to the wire.
