i would say both of our teams have improved as a result of this (and i did eventually address the pitching issues in subsequent moves).

I'm only really laughing at one comment in the thread - and it's recent.

I stand behind my comments. He's now on the wrong side of 30, isn't clearly the best player at his position (I'd still rather have Winson on Noboru than Gillstrom), and Montreal still picked up 4 guys under 25 who can be stars (and are now BBA ready) plus a cheap RF with 30+ HR power and solid defense.

i think this one falls into the "win/win" deals. Plus i have been considering shifting gillstrom to 2nd, and in that case he is absolutely the best at his position.

You've only gotten about 0.2 WAR out of 2B since acquiring Gillstrom and it hasn't hindered you much. Guess it just depends on what you get in FA/trades. Gives you flexibility to add a 3B if the value is there.

bumping this because of a discussion we had on slack regarding blockbuster deals. Funny that despite being the oldest player in this deal Gillstrom is STILL the best player in the group 7 seasons later by a comfortable margin.

P.S the #mendozaline worked out very nicely in my favor.

What was the war versus war number? Didn’t you lose this badly?

Gonna need you to post the trade with links please. Otherwise I judge that you lost horribly.

36 WAR in 5+ years for me (not counting this season since he left and came back or his season in NO).
70 WAR in 7 years for the 5 guys I gave up.

4 ASG in 5 years for gillstrom
5 ASG for the other guys combined

Lane, I'm on my phone so I can't do links right now.

You have to take into account the production he got on league minimum. So while WAR per player favors Gillstrom, you probably paid more money wise. Not bad for either side.
