Considering what he gave up in addition to the 100% retention, I don't see how this can be seen as a good deal. Doubt he will get as much for Dalrymple as he would need to make this not bad.

If he retains Dalrymples salary too, a contender that gets hit by an outfield injury would probably give up some good stuff for him. The problem is he absolutely must get that haul to get close to washing the trade out. Especially because if Dalrymple plays like poop, a comp pick is by no means guaranteed. That would be killer.

If Raider gets hurt again especially another leg injury I think the dynamics of this deal begin to look different. Only time will tell on this one, I do understand the thinking from both GM's.
