Outfielder Craig Barber was claimed off waivers last week by the Las Vegas Hustlers, ending the Chicago/Huntsville career of the 23-year-old left-hander.
Barber began his career in 2036 when he was drafted in the 9th Round of the amateur draft by the Brooklyn Robins. He was traded to Huntsville the next year as part of a multi-player swap and assigned to the AAA Carolina Flight.

Barber’s slash line for the year at Carolina was .290/.360/.507, with 14 HRs, 53 RBIs, and 2.5 WAR.
“We would like to have sent Craig back to Carolina for further seasoning, but he was out of options,” said Sox Asst. General Manager Bill McGuffin.
“Craig is a quality player and a quality person, but he simply was not going to fit into our major league plans going forward, so we felt it best to let him get a fresh start with another club. We wish him all the best in Las Vegas.”
