Omaha says goodbye to Adam Barnard(39.26)

Post by niles08 » Fri Aug 02, 2019 9:32 am

Despite being an under the radar move in the BBA, the trade of Adam Barnard from the Omaha Hawks to Yellow Springs sent some earthquake like waves through the plains of Nebraska.

Barnard has been with the club all 7 seasons since the move to Omaha prior to the 2033 season. He was a beloved fan favorite, despite his struggles the past 2 seasons. The 27 year old will likely finish his career with the Hawks with 77 wins, a 4.18 ERA, and 19.8 total WAR. He tossed over 1200 innings for the club and has yet to see the IL in his career.

Barnard was not only a fan favorite, but also a favorite among his teammates.

“It just doesn’t feel the same without Adam throwing sunflower seeds at me between innings.” Said 2nd baseman James Monger.

“Adam was a great leader and role model for this organization in not only the clubhouse, but also in the community. His kindness and appreciation for the fans was never doubted as he would always take the time to stop and sign items or play catch with in a kid pregame.” Said Hawks manager Quentin Richardson.

"We felt like Adam has been loyal to us enough that he deserved to go somewhere where he had a chance to make a large impact on a team that was likely to compete deep in the playoffs and potentially win a Landis this season. Despite being traded to a division rival, we will be rooting for Adam in his new journey with Yellow Springs." said GM Justin Niles

This trade also knocks the remaining original Hawks from the 2033 season when the team moved from Indianapolis to Omaha down to a trio. Those three players are Jose Canales, Emilio Morales, and Jimmy Starks Jr.

Coming to Omaha in return for Barnard mostly appears to be salary relief as the team has already announced that pitcher Hiroyasu Osaragi would be placed on waivers and available for trade.

We're trying to decide if Barnard will get a start in Omaha or not. :) That three stamina is interesting, and he threw 10 scoreless out of the bullpen last week.
