2/3 of a starter's games must be starts.

Just for important clarification, if you don't mind, Taisuke Suzuki would be a reliever for compensation consideration?

38 games, 21 starts would have him fall just under the two thirds threshold for a starter, if I understand correctly.

That appears to be the way the rule reads. That would be ridiculous though, as there's no way 23 innings of slightly above average relief pitching = 1.0 WAR

That start % is probably a little high (how many pitchers with <50% of their games being starts have over 3.0 WAR or 4.5 WAR?)
EDIT: Grady is the only P with over 4.5 WAR and less than 100% of his games as starts this year; and he's the only pitcher with over 2 WAR with less than 50% starts.

EDITx2: Being that the SP threshold is generally much higher than the RP threshold, that seems about right. Over 50%, you are considered a starter; 50% or less, you are a reliever. It would be very hard to be a poor starting pitcher and do so well as a reliever that you reach the Type B threshold with 51% starters or more. This may still leave some guys who aren't really compensation level pitchers who receive a comp pick because they start 40% of their games and just accumulate 2 WAR from being a 'meh' SP and solid RP, but it is less likely.

Whoo! Maguire hits Type A with a 3.2 exactly. Most excellent for me, and Alan as well who doesn't have to pay him $9M to play for someone else for the next 2 years.

I have updated the OP with what I think the list of FA eligible for comp picks are, and their status...please review and point out any errors. :)

Yes. That's an interesting case. Parrish made his WAR limits, but then signed a minor league contract. Technically, CCJ qualifies for a comp pick, but it's a MiLC. That was my question mark. Does a guy who garners a minor league deal provide a pick?

I figured it’d be considered interesting. Of course I’d rather have the pick but get if it’s decided that he doesn’t warrant it, I’m get the decision and it’s all good. :)

If it were me making the decision, I’d probably award the pick but change the constitution to not include MiLC’s starting next round of comp players so it doesn’t happen again. But I think you guys make decision different than I do which is fine.

If I understand correctly, I believe I should receive reliever compensation for Taisuke Suzuki (Jacksonville) and John Jefferson (Montreal).

Wyatt should be a Type B for me. 1.5 WAR last year and signed with Vancouver on a ML contract.

I think starting next season we should definitely consider making a ML contract the requirement for compensation. A ml compensation for a MiLC really don't make sense to me.

Wyatt still hasn't been added. Can someone please do this? He had 1.5 WAR on the dot for me last year and was signed by Vancouver.
