Who Ya Got? JL Sun Belt
2038 has very much been a season where the vast gap in talent in the haves and have nots has been placed squarely at the forefront of league optics. the JL Atlantic (Rockville, 29 game lead), JL Southeast (Jacksonville, 30.5 game lead), FL Heartland (Yellow Springs, 18 game lead), and FL Pacific (California, 15 game lead) have been basically decided for quite some time, with only the JL Sun Belt and the FL Frontier being up for grabs, and are they ever.
The Sun Belt, which could have feasibly been won by any one of Las Vegas, Mexico City, Phoenix, and San Antonio, has separated a bit with the Hustlers and Aztecs as the two main players for the division crown. Both have already punched a ticket to the post season but, with the teams separated by a single game and with 14 to play, including a three game set in the desert next week, the division very much remains up in the air. Both of these teams have been bitten by the injury bug a bit of late, Mexico City lost 3B Jerome Delage for the season and has had its depth tested by several smaller injuries to OF Gipper Kengos (out for another week), SP Dan Forsyth (back this sim) and RP Oginga Coujoe (back this sim). The Aztecs have fought through these injuries to post an 8-7 record in September thus far but are looking for a spark to make it into the post season.
Vegas has suffered their own losses, almost exclusively affecting their pitching staff. The biggest blow is losing FA acquisition Mauro Flores for the remainder of the regular season. Also missing from Vegas' stable are Gerardo Fajardo who suffered his second torn meniscus of 2038, and RP Wayne Jackson.
Vegas holds the division lead and had a great month of August. The Aztecs also played plus baseball in August. The series next week between the two teams may very well be what decides the division. Outside of that series, Vegas is on the road for most of the remainder of the way, heading to Atlantic City for 4 before hosting the Aztecs, then playing three apiece in Phoenix and San Antonio and, oddly, hosting Brooklyn for a single makeup game on October 2nd (I'm not the first team with an October game this year!). The Aztecs host Charm City before traveling to Vegas for 3 then to Wichita for another three before hosting Phoenix for 4 in 3 days to finish the season.
So, who ya got?

Nice overview...the schedule is a little kinder to the Aztecs, but that series in Vegas looms huge.

Wait, Marko DIDN'T vote for Phoenix when it's an available option? I don't even know what to make of that.jiminyhopkins wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 11:55 amWarning: DO NOT vote for the Talons. They suck.

In all seriousness though, the Talons have a pretty good chance to help decide the title one way or the other. Be nice, Sean...

Re: Who Ya Got? JL Sun Belt
I think a bigger upset than Marko not voting for himself is that fred doesn't have any games in hand at this point of the season.

The more realistic poll is... Which Talons pitcher gets hurt in the last week of the season?jiminyhopkins wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 11:55 amWarning: DO NOT vote for the Talons. They suck.

Re: Who Ya Got? JL Sun Belt
Not picking on you Ron, but this is the kind of stuff that makes me throw my hands up. SHould I just sit him the rest of the season and give up? Why pitch anyone, actually? WHy play baseball?RonCo wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 7:31 pmI call dibs on Iron-kinfe: https://statsplus.net/brewster/playerst ... l=0&type=3
And yes, I'm kinda getting triggered because the insinuation was made back then that I somehow allowed LaLoosh to get hurt by giving him too many pitcher abuse points. How am I supposed to forecast that?

Re: Who Ya Got? JL Sun Belt
I apologize for that. The bottom line is that any pitcher can get hurt at any time. I had both LaLoosh and Chavez hurt when they were younger, too.
