So, I was surprised to see that Boise had the 6th best ERA in the Frick...I was going to shoot arrows at Madison about Boise allowing 3/4 of a run PER GAME less than Madison...Then I saw that Madison had 6 pitchers on the DL...but hey, Boise has had 2 starting pitchers on the DL for extended stints, including a guy that threw a NO-HITTER! Madison hasn't lost anybody like that...who knows? Hell, to hear their GM talk, I just assumed Madison was a playoff contender, but they are more likely a contender for a top 5 pick!
Speaking of other crappy results, Boise is in a free fall at 61-75. After going 38-43 in the first half of the season, Boise has gone 23-32 so far in the 2nd half. In order to win 71 games for the 3rd straight season, Boise needs to go 10-16...possible maybe...Our upcoming opponents have a 497-458 record and our last 3 opponents are 227-184...12 of the 26 are at home where we are 39-30 on the season, unfortunately we are abysmal on the road at 22-45...71 wins is probably real close to where we should finish...The question will be whether to let Frenchy and Munoz play the last 10 days when they come off the DL...They have both had tremendous seasons and Frenchy has pretty much wrapped up the batting title. We shall see; still a couple of weeks away.
Tater Tots:
- Ramon Vela came up last week for the 1st time in 2 years and promptly hit a HR in his first game. Of course that was during our sweep of Calgary, so I'm not sure it is all that impressive. Regardless, he will man 2B for the rest of the season as Kharlamov learns his new position of DH/Benchwarmer...
- Boise recently traded for Patrick Patchett so that I wouldn't have to watch Stan Brooks lose...er...start another game this season or ever. He is so bad that I don't think he could even learn how to be a ball boy...Interesting tidbit, Patchett won't negotiate with Boise because he wants to test the free agent market...hahaha...hold on...hahahaha....I shouldn't laugh I guess...haahaha...good Patchett! <snicker>

Hey, it’s not easy to learn benchwarming. Do you cross your legs, or no? Lean back with your hands behind your head? Lean forward and feign interest? There’s lotsa options there!

He actually has won 6 Silver Slugger Awards, 3 Gold Glove Awards, and 2 Comeback Player of the Year Awards (I guess he won't win a 3rd this year)...looking at his numbers, he's a borderline HOF'r I guess...He's been a little disappointing this season but he's actually hitting right now.

Well, OK. We'll cut him some slack. But don't let him out of benchwarming training over the off season ...
