DANIEL INJURED AT SAN FERNANDO (AGAIN)
August 26. 2037
San Fernando, CA
Coming off of a rough week, Surfers fans were optimistic for the three-game series in San Fernando. The Bears have recently lost the division lead to the California Crusaders, and are now wild card competitors with the Surfers.
The optimism didn’t even last through the first seven innings of the series however, as an injury to star sophomore second baseman Sloan Daniel brought back memories of the 2036 Cartwright Cup series. You certainly don’t need to be reminded that Daniel was injured in Game 6 of the series that the Surfers eventually lost in the seventh game.
This time the perpetrator was third baseman Juan Mendoza who brought his knee down quite aggressively while tagging Daniel out, resulting in an injury to his foot that will have him on the shelf for about one week.
The new injury is especially frustrating for Surfers fans, as Daniel had just returned from a four week stint on the DL with a strained back, which was likely connected to last year’s herniated disk suffered in the Cartwright game.
No front office personnel were available for comment, but sources inside the organization indicate that management is livid. Our source provided this quote from a high level executive: “San Fernando is a good team. I don’t understand why they pull this bullshit. It’s fucking bush league and they should really be above it.”
