2037.6: A Series in Review - NO, YS9

Post by Zeggo » Tue Dec 18, 2018 7:12 am

Another two series came to completion this week for the Blazers. In a little bit of a hurry but don't want to fall behind so we're going to do a quick overlook at the entire series instead of a game by game breakdown.

New Orleans Crawdads

Game 1: 6-2 WIN
Game 2: 5-10 LOSS
Game 3: 8-4 WIN

The Blazers were able to come out winning this series 2-1 with their offense putting on a pretty good showing. They were able to get 32 hits in the series and had at least 5 runs cross the plate in every game. SP Manuel Pena put together a complete game in the opener of the series, striking out 9 and only allowing 2 runs. Pena has definitely been one of the bright spots on the staff for the Blazers.

Yellow Springs Nine

Game 1: 9-0 WIN
Game 2: 5-11 LOSS
Game 3: 17-2 WIN

With their blazing hot offense continuing into this series, Montreal was able to take 2 of 3 from the Nine. After their performance in the previous series against the Crawdads, critics said that the Blazer's offensive performance wasn't sustainable. Not only did it sustain through this series, it actually improved. Montreal plated 31 runs on 46 hits across the series. While most of that did come in their game 3 thrashing of Yellow Springs, they did once again manage 5 runs in each game. GM Zach Grant says that this is the key number as he believes that their staff should be able to keep the opposition to 5 or fewer runs every game, thus scoring 5 makes them competitive and the likely victor. SP Vicente Lopez pitched a complete game shutout in game one while Manuel Pena added another complete game in the series closer.

Take Away: I really like the way my team played these series. With the offense seemingly coming together, I think that we should be able to take 2 of 3 from most teams in the league. Put that together over the course of a season and you have a playoff run where anything can happen.

Stud of the Series: SP Manuel Pena - 18IP, 2CG, 2W, 4ER, 13K.
Dud of the Series: SP Matt Hansen - 2.2IP, 11H, 8ER, 1L
Series W/L: 3-2-0
On Deck: CCJ, HNT
