Warehouse Wire 2037.04: IFA Haul

Post by bcslouck » Mon Dec 03, 2018 11:18 am

Despite the noted issues in the front office, the team managed to sign a couple good IFA's in the effort to continue adding talent to the organization.

Pedro Ruíz was signed for a $4,500,000 bonus out of Venezuela. The 16 year old 1B comes with the nickname 'Deathblow.' If he develops based on projections, that could prove to be an accurate one. He projects to have plus contact along with plus power in general. His walk rate could be average while being better than average add not striking out. Reports indicated he was one of the hardest workers at the workouts team hope he anchors the middle of the lineup in the next few seasons.

Wllibald Akbulut is a German 3B who signed for $6,000,000. He projects to be a solid above average bat and should be able to be a decent corner OF if need, though the team wants him to stick at 3B. 1B is also something he can pull off and he may get some time there for versatility reasons only. His best tool is his plus plus arm, which projects to be that whether he stays on the dirt or goes to the grass. The arm does play better at 3B, but would still be among the league best in RF. Sources says he was keeping also one of the hardest players in his workouts and interviews with friends and family say you won't find anyone more loyal.

Tomás Guillén, also from Venezuala, signed for $4,500,000. He's shown flashes of ability to be a CF but the organization isn't sure about that yet. While it's certain he could be a corner OF or 1B, the team hopes he develops the skill to stick in CF. He figures to have plus contract and be one of the toughest guys to strikeout in the league. While he should have plus gap power, his overall power should be league averagish. He's a smart player but more selfish then the above two.

All 3 guys have some skill and can be future ML players with the right development plan and luck. The organization hopes these guys come up in the middle. Chances are, they are 3-5 years away. The organization should be in a much better place by then and hopefully these guys are big pieces to a run of success.

I think you got some good ones there after some of the other teams tapped out.

Yeah, they're solid. Kind of bummed about the export mishap. I saw at least one of the top guys signed for a number I know was lower then my offer. But these guys could do.

These guys are in my starting lineup almost 10 years later. None are stars but looking like they all are solid ML contributors.
