Valencia Star Report: 79-74 (.516) # 7

The Stars did well last week going 7-3 but Vancouver did better going 8-2 and now lead the Stars by 4 games...Also California is tied with the Stars, 4 games out too....So we go into the final week...The Stars play 2 games vs Hawaii, but then play 3 games at California and the last 4 game away in Vancover,ahhhh...The Stars are 11-8 vs California and 9-9 vs Vancouver...The Stars really need to sweep Vancouver to move up but thats highly unlikely...

The Stars will have back future HOF Gary Barr back for the games vs California and Vancouver...It could be Barr's last few games wearing a Stars uniform but could be an important few games...Barr in 25 games this season is hitting .327 6 14 and could help the offence...Barr doenst look to have slown down even at age 39...Barr has 3178 hits, 457 homers and 1,650 RBI'S during his career...Barr has played in post season series in 1995-1998 and has a .319 batting average and 9 homers....

CF Jean-Paul Jean-Paul needs 11 hits during his last week for him to hit 200 hits this season...Jean-Paul has 189 hits so far tis year, 41 doubles 8 triples, 13 homers and has driven in 63 runs as the Stars lead off man.....Last season Jean-Paul had 151 hits which was the most in a season for him....

Barr is still really, really good for his age. He's aging extremely well, and could be an interesting one year free agent pickup for someone if he doesn't retire.

Once the season is over, he might get an invite to Vancouver to check out our glorious city.
But I suspect he would want too much money and he probably isn't worth giving up a #1 pick to acquire.
He's more likely to be acquired by a team that would only have to give up a #2.

His ratings for 39 are still great...too bad he had those few years of injury..he could of had 250 more hits...
