Crawdad Chronicles 34.06 - Backing into the playoffs
Magic number is 2. With 4 games to go.
New Orleans, Montreal, Las Vegas. 2 will make the playoffs.
If the Crawdads plan on making the playoffs and another landis run, they better hope to split the 4 game series against Charm City. They cant count on Montreal losing 2 games to Huntsville, and they certainly cant count on Las Vegas laying down against Hawaii.
Charm City, having clinched the playoff this season will hopefully be giving their regular starters some rest. At least that is what GM Jim Roberts is hoping for. The 'dads will be rolling out Delgado for the first game of the series, hoping to reduce the magic number to 1 with 3 days left in the season. Then they will have Amaral looking for his 20th win of the season for the last game.
It should be fun. We didnt want to be here. We are better than this. But we have had a pretty awful late season run. Playing just .500 ball (25-25) since July 31st is no way to make the playoffs.
New Orleans has been here before, and knows they can take down teams in the playoffs. But for now...they just need to get there!

I can tell you we are not. We still have a shot at the division.

i was stunned. The pennant chase part of the game gave montreal a 4.5% chance...recte44 wrote:Cant believe you didn't make it.

Maybe I should actually listen to my own podcast but didn't Fred and I say New Orleans was gonna be the odd man out based on schedule?

The daily double of Montreal and Omaha's runs had to carry huge odds.

Re: Crawdad Chronicles 34.06 - Backing into the playoffs
i think we were confused about who was actually in the playoffs at that point (because i want to say Jacksonville and Charm City were tied so both listed in the WC), but i think we agreed that Vegas was going to pass New Orelans because of the schedule, but that New Orleans had too much of a cushion built up for Montreal to make up.bschr682 wrote:Maybe I should actually listen to my own podcast but didn't Fred and I say New Orleans was gonna be the odd man out based on schedule?
