Marquette Organizational Report

The Marquette Suns have consistently had one of the better farms in the league, and had one of the most famous prospect for player deals in the history of the league when they acquired Allen Izatt. While consistently been a seller of prospects on the trade market, they still have a farm system that ranks in the top half in the MBBA and have consistently moved to acquire prospects lately.

Largely highlighting this group is the duo of Rafael Avila and Hector Ruiz. Ruiz has the biggest problem; he's trapped behind perennial All-Star level Paul Barfoot, which may cause some questions in the coming season as the outstanding Barfoot is eligible for free agency. Silva, still on the top 100 prospects, has already arrived in the majors and has been successful in a first run. Avila is blocked for now by Theo Epstein; however, he'll arrive by next year at the latest.

The other two members of the top 100 prospects in the Marquette system are somewhat overrated in our opinion: though there's nothing terribly wrong with either Bob Blaisdell or Jesus Torrealba, they're hardly outstanding, neither has proven anything above the A-level and they're both 23. It's mostly the non-reliever bias of the top 100 list that keeps the two on it.

The following will be a level-by-level look at the Marquette Suns, and there are a couple good prospects down there that haven't made the top 100 list. Let's get going.

In past leagues (GBC, etc) I've normally liked to keep the team young and stockpile prospects. I've done a complete turn-around in this league by selling things off.

I usually like to have it both ways, though if push comes to shove I'll usually trade prospects rather than hoarding. I haven't traded anyone I don't feel I can live without, though - and my farm was, like, totally broke when I got to it so I consider this an improvement.
