By the way, thought experiment: I wonder if the height and weight of a pitcher leads to him being projectable.

I've wondered that as well. In fact, one of the reasons we drafted Nate Horswill last year is because I thought that at 6'7" 190, he had a chance to bump up in velo and stuff. Hasn't happened yet, tho.

I seriously doubt that it does. Anecdotally, I've had a rather large-ish number of 6'5" and taller guys who never got much over 90, and haven't had any pattern to the guys throwing 100 on my big league team. Furthermore, the sheer number of utterly ridiculously huge plus plus defenders on my club at places like short and center, etc, make it hard to believe the developers are paying too much attention to body frame a the player creation/potential end of things.

Interestingly, they do pay attention to it in one way. Player height and weight affect the total defensive rating. For example, if you make two first baseman with identical range, error, etc ratings and the same number of games at 1B, if one of them is 5'8" and the other is 6'5", their actual defensive rating at first will be different.

I too have noticed that taller guys usually are rated higher at 1B. I do believe it is limited to 1B though (guessing the larger catch radius meaning a slightly higher overall?)

And glad to get Ronald Ross at 147. This draft is turning out to be eerily similar to 2031 for me. High risk early with a couple of teens, with surprising depth behind (Barron, Saldana, Rivera, Claudio, Ramirez, Tucker all taken between rounds 3-10, even 595th overall Manuel Martinez has an outside chance at making a BBA roster)

It’s getting pretty annoying when teams get auto’d, uncheck auto draft and presumably build a new draft list only to get auto’d again. It’s slowing down the draft. Stop it.

This is the part of the draft where you just pick a 17 year old lefty pitcher, give them a couple of years and hope for the best.
