Since joining the league as an expansion team, the Jimmies have exceeded expectations at every step of the way. The team has improved every season, and last season, it took 163 games to earn the teams first playoff berth. Not this year.
Through an entertaining season in the Johnson League Atlantic, with game teams in Montreal and Atlantic City, the Charm City Jimmies pulled through and won the franchises first division title to earn their second straight playoff berth.
With a tough September schedule, the team wrapped up the year going 17-11, which included one of the JL Nebraska favorites Egbert Behner having a monster month on his way to winning Pitcher of the Month. In 6 starts, he pitched 44 innings on his way to a 1.43 ERA and a 4-1 record.
"It's nice to win the award," said Behner. "Even nicer and I'm honored to be up for the Nebraska again. But, there is nothing sweeter than all that hard work you put in with your team and seeing all that work pay off. We as a team worked our tails off and we now have a division title to show for it. It was a rough year at times. We had a few bumps here and there. But this is a tough team. Just kept grinding. We showed our adversity. I guess the only thing sweeter would be winning the whole damn thing, huh?"
Many seemed to expect another competitive team that would be in the Wild Card mix. But not many expected this team to win 96 games and compete for the division. They lead the division for the majority of the year. The rotation ended the year 2nd in ERA behind Behner and while the bullpen was a weak spot, they improved as the year went on, lowing the collective ERA by more than half a run since the trade deadline. The offense was steady, but seems to still be underachieving. Top prospect Bartolo Ortíz gave a nice boost to the offense, slashing .313/.347/.571 with 8 home runs in 42 games. He will stay on the playoff roster as the team's primary DH.
The team will now get a bye from the Geoghegan Series, as they await the winner of the San Antonio-Jacksonville matchup. The time off will give the team a chance to rest up, set up the rotation how they'd like, and let some of the players coming off some minor injuries heal up. The team will have no excuses as they will get to start the playoffs as fresh and healthy as anyone and look to prove that they are no fluke. The team now owns the JLA crown. They look to move forward now to win a much bigger crown and be the best in the BBA.

Congrats on the division win. I thought this was Montreal's division to lose, but you really did a great job setting up the team with the expansion drafts and then supplementing through trade and free agent signings. Well deserved win.
