2031.9 - LB Independent - LBC-LOU Rivalry Renewed

Post by Lane » Tue Jun 06, 2017 5:53 pm

July 28, 2031
Long Beach, CA

For the first time since the 2030 Frick League championship series, the Louisville Sluggers will face the Long Beach Surfers. The 2030 series was the second consecutive meeting between the two teams. Furthermore, these two teams have won each of the last two Landis Memorial Series. Last year during the regular season, the Sluggers beat the Surfers so badly, it doesn't even matter what the actual numbers were.

This year, however, the Surfers are ready. Not only do the Surfers have the best record in the Frick, but they've got a foolproof, unbeatable strategy to beat no only the Sluggers, but their foes from Calgary in the following series.

This year the Sluggers are winning at a .598 clip, not as good as the Surfers .624, but good enough to lead the second-rate "Heartland" division.

Now, when the Sluggers face right handed pitching, they play like the Surfers! 40-24 to be exact, for a.625 percentage. However, when they face lefties? A lowly .553 percentage.

To that end, the Surfers have stocked up on LHPs going into the four game set. Twenty-seven year old Pepe Castillo, lefty pitcher with a 5-pitch mix will start an undisclosed game this series, to replace injured starter Jose Lozano. Veteran lefty Sake Keivit also had his contract purchased from AAA Santa Fe and will be serving up ground balls out of the bullpen for at least the next week.

Long Beach is carrying 14 pitchers at the moment, a rather high number in a league that prefers offensive platoons and lengthy relief outings. There are no less than 3 lefty specialists and one righty specialist to go along with 4 middle relievers and a mop up Rule 5'er. Who knows how long that will last, but for now it will surely guarantee a four game sweep of the lowly Sluggers.

3-1 series win for the mighty Sluggers

You only have a better winning percentage because you have yet to face US

A most unfair advantage you held over the rest of the BBA

Until now

I want this to work for this very reason. It will really start forcing people to employ more role players and use more of the 40 man roster. Could be awesome.

split with LOU, including two lopsided games, one for each.

2/3 against Calgary.
