2012 Hall of Fame Final Tally
Congratulations to the great Rafael "Mash" Rodriguez on his election to the Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot. The Puerto Rican shortstop fell just 9 hits short of the all-time record but still had some detractors on this ballot as 11 of the 23 voters kept him out of the top spot, including a single voter who placed him 14th on the ballot, probably due to an anti-first year bias.
Dwayne Johnson and Ross White fought it out for second on the ballot with both receiving strong support. Larry Lasalle finished a solid fourth and received three first place ballots. Unfortunately, we must say goodbye to the powerful Dave Manzanillo, who boasted more than 1300 runs and RBI to go with 428 homers, making him the fourth player with that many homers who was eliminated from Hall contention.
23 of the 24 ballots were received. 529 points required for election.
1. Rafael Rodriguez - (1)-12, (2)-4, (3)-1, (4)-2, (5)-1, (7)-1, (8)-1, (14)-1, Total - 737

Re: 2012 Hall of Fame Final Tally
Man, close call between Hackensack and Des Moines for which hat Rodriguez would wear. In the end, I chose Hackensack. The numbers between the two cities were so close, but in the end, his numbers, both totals and averages, were just better in Jersey than in Iowa.
Re: 2012 Hall of Fame Final Tally
The anti-first year bias thing is just dumb.
But hey at least our voting is better than the horror show that is MLB HoF voting.

I get the anti-first year bias. I am (sortof) one of those guys....but to not rank him the best of the first year guys is just bizarre!

Chip Foodie must have compromising photos of half the league... its the only explanation.

3120 Ks. A 6:1 K:BB ratio. 1.15 career WHIP. Not too shabby 120 career ERA+. Ninth most wins in league history.agrudez wrote:Chip Foodie must have compromising photos of half the league... its the only explanation.
I'm not saying he's a shoo-in, but he isn't exactly an embarrassment to the ballot either.

Re: 2012 Hall of Fame Final Tally
It was strange voting for the HOF when you don't know any of the players, but I think my ballot was pretty similar to the final results. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Ross White being 13th is far more blasphemous that anything anyone else did on their ballots (except the two that had him last, haha).mrbornac wrote:Lasalle is good. The top 4 from my list deserve to be in the hall. The rest are a crap shoot in my mind.
