Totally agreed! At least on the Hunter for HOF part. Not necessarily on the Hinson is a bum part.

I'd also consider opening up the voting to previous GMs who come back on occasion. i.e. Joe, Mike Bieschke, etc. Could be fun for them to vote as well, and a way to keep former GMs somewhat engaged with minimal effort.

Having a PM discussion with someone about Moronobu, who isn't getting much attention for some reason. The subject of his lower OPS+ than the other candidates was brought up. Here is what I said:

"Granted, and that is certainly part of the picture. Still, a long career from a power hitting, Gold Glove shortstop. Of every player in the RL HOF with as many hits as Moronobu, every one with as many HR is a 1B or an OF. Ripken had one homer less than Moronobu and wasn't as good a hitter. The only HOF shortstops I can find with higher OPS+ are Wagner and Banks, who actually played more games as a 1B."

I am consistently surprised that our voters don't seem to take position into consideration much. To me, Moronobu is a shoo-in.

I put Moronobu like eighth, but that's because there are some truly all-time greats in this bunch. He's one of them, but there were seven guys I wanted to see ahead of him, at least this year. He might move up on my ballot next year depending on who gets in and who's up for consideration.

With 14 ballots received, there is one player who is pretty much guaranteed. Three others are fighting over second place and have a shot with more support.

Now that we have more info available, I will look into that. My thinking had been that taking the ballot beyond the width of a normal screen wasn't a great idea as it required voters to scroll. You know how people feel about scrolling.

Still, I'm open to any suggestions.

Yeah I think WAR would definitely help clarify the differences between some of the players.
