While I'm not a fan of using counting stats, they have to have some bearing. 233 wins in the MBWBA for Foodie ranks him 9th all time. You can't compare him to Moyer or any big leaguer, because the context is totally different. We only have one 300 game winner in our history. Meanwhile, we have 18 guys with 3000 Ks, including Foodie. This is just a different league with different expectations. That's why you have to compare guys to peers.

For the record, every retired pitcher with more wins than Foodie is in the Hall already. Hard to say he's not at the very least on the bubble.

I had Foodie 7th on my ballot. I think he's borderline due to those counting stats. And due to the messup we've made over Gunga, I may have had a few relievers higher than that!!

I'll look at ASG and awards, but I discount them heavily or ignore them. For reasons stated here by several GMs.

Which ERA+ does wonderfully (which is why I LOVE that you add it!) and I can't imagine anyone currently in the hall even remotely gets close to Foodie's.

Perhaps the closest guy to Foodie that is IN the Hall of Fame...

Ryan Dunne
228-191, 3.83 ERA, 2469Ks, 1.19 WHIP, 124 ERA+

Compare that to Chip Foodie
233-157, 3.77 ERA, 3120Ks, 1.15 WHIP, 120 ERA+

If Dunne is in, Foodie should be in based off counting stats.

Except that we didn't vote in Ryan Dunne. The game did that for us.

I voted for him too - there's an award named after the guy, he had to go in.

Those are definitely very poor additions, but two wrongs don't make a right. :(

All the more reason for the awards to be renamed to 'Eagan' and 'Puckett'!

Did that happen in season 1 or something?

Well, early in the league...which is why there's some "questionable" Hall of Famers (I'm looking at YOU, Willie Mays Hayes).

I would've voted based on name alone.

Two ballots left. One guy is already in, and one other player still has a shot at getting in if the votes fall the right way.
