That is as much a function of the number of ballots as it is the quality of the player. Can't glean too much from that number. Might have been a year with little ballot interest.7teen wrote:I went back and looked it up... Gunga received 466 points and since the league resumed on this forum, that is the fewest number of points any Hall of Famer has received thus far. In fact, we've had players get more votes and not get in. And Gunga actually had years of more points and NOT get in based off the standards.

Hard to deny that, but Puckett has claimed 7 Silk Awards to Kengos' 2 or 3. Id have to look up the official number for Kengos.jcrmoon42 wrote:I don't know about that. Bopper Kengos has a heck of an argument too. By the time he's done, the career record book will be nearly untouchable.7teen wrote:The JL Silk Award should go ahead and be re-named the Puckett Award.bschr682 wrote:But there will be an Egan award someday......

Kengos will have the sexy counting stats that the HOF likes to see, but there is absolutely no doubt that Puckett was the better of the two... a career 172 OPS+... truly other-wordly.7teen wrote:Hard to deny that, but Puckett has claimed 7 Silk Awards to Kengos' 2 or 3. No question about that. There has to be some credit for an awesome name as well. For years, we've enjoyed giving away the Silk Trophy. Would you rather win a Puckett Trophy or a Bopper Trophy?agrudez wrote:Kengos will have the sexy counting stats that the HOF likes to see, but there is absolutely no doubt that Puckett was the better of the two... a career 172 OPS+... truly other-wordly.7teen wrote:Hard to deny that, but Puckett has claimed 7 Silk Awards to Kengos' 2 or 3.
