2010 Hall of Fame Final Tally

Post by jcrmoon42 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 3:52 pm

Congratulations to Bolt Vanderhugen and Jay Lee for their induction into the Hall of Fame on their first ballot. Unfortunately, we must say goodbye to Hayden Finch, whose nearly 4000 Ks and 2 POY Awards were not enough to overcome a 189-153 record which voters seemed to find too pedestrian. Riley Hinson also falls short once again and only has two more ballots to gain election. This was a tough ballot with several top notch candidates who are certain to gain election eventually. Vanderhugen was the dominant figure with 603 homers and 1759 RBI. Lee was the winner of 5 POY Awards in his career in which he put up a 259-135 record with 3631 Ks and an ERA of 2.90. Congratulations again to those two and good luck to the rest in the future.

Here is your final tally. 437 points required for election:
Bolt Vanderhugen - (1)-11, (2)-4, (3)-2, (4)-1, (13)-1, Total - 662

Thanks for coordinating and compiling the vote(s) on this, Jason. Congrats to Bolt and Jay for their induction. Oh wait, they're not real people.... Then congrats to those of us who voted them high.

I made an effort to get Finch in by throwing my 1st place vote his way. I felt like with is K totals and above average wins he was borderline.

Madison gets their first HOF from the core team I've had since taking the club over. Bolt (I assume) has to get in as a Wolves player. He had some good seasons in Montreal, but I think most remember him for his time spent with the Wolves. Plus he spent more time here than anywhere.

He and Jay were slam dunks on this ballot and the voters got this one right in my opnion. And based on the fact that Jason has Bolt with 600+ homeruns, I'm assuming EBA stats are counting for HOF purposes.

Sorry to disappoint, but Lee was clearly a Moonshiner!

If a franchise is destroyed by acquiring a player via trade then the least he can do is go into the hall wearing that team's cap.

The people who voted Mitrani 14th should be ashamed of themselves.

I identified 5 guys in this ballot that deserved to be in the HOF. 4 of them finished in the top 5. Mitrani was the lone guy out. Not sure what people dont see in him.

On the All-Time leaderboard he is
#13 in Wins
#11 in Strikeouts
#29 in WAR
#5 in VORP
#21 in Complete Games

HOF for sure in my mind...

I put Mitrani 8th. Lee and Vanderhugen were slam dunks 1 and 2 and then I went Finch (last year on ballot)-> Caves (maybe a bad call in retrospect)-> Kelly (OMA homer vote)-> Hinson (to satiate Matt)-> Clarke... not a terrible ballot, imo.
