Personally, as that ballot stands, I think Menne gets a #1 vote, Hinson gets a #2 vote and all of the rest get a N/A (either give them a 0 and put it in their averages or just take this vote out of their averages). I really dislike the idea of just giving extra votes to players because they are doing well already - if he didn't think they were worthy of being voted for then (just like a real life HOF ballot) they should just be omitted.

I vote no. In part because sale is not in the top 2! But also because we use the bottom vote getters to determine who gets left off next year.

Too many hanging chads here. I say submit it in full...or don't count it at all.

If you allow this it will set a precedent for the future. People will only vote (yes or no) on each candidate. And although I am on record as preferring that approach, it shouldn't be done without considering the ramifications.

Yes, fill out all 15 according to how you rank the players. Don't let others' voices influence yours... whether or not you like Menne or Hinson;)

With the way it is set up a player needs to average a #3 or better vote, so if one person puts a player in the 10-15 slot it significantly tanks their chances that year (aka. it is pretty much equivalent to a non-vote).

A player is not necessarily doomed by a last place vote. A first place vote balances that out. We had a vote in the BOY this year where owners were drastically split over a player as a few put him last while several put him first. He still made it.

As for eliminating other players on the ballot, how am I supposed to determine which ones to eliminate? If everybody is putting different people in the top 3 but thinks the rest of the ballot should be eliminated, then nobody should be eliminated. Most of the players on any given ballot get a vote in the top 3-5 players. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Some of you think Hinson is crap and won't vote for him. Others are putting him #1 overall. So, if we went with the first group, he wouldn't even be on the ballot, thereby pissing off the second group.

So, we have a reasonably sized ballot that has people on it each of us thinks is undeserving while others think they are the bee's knees.

I'm omitting additional inflammatory commentary at this point in time.

Eh, hopefully that wasn't directed at me. I love the voting process you put together (I think it does a fantastic job of simulating hundreds of voters with only 15-20 actually voting) and was merely trying to help answer Manny's question.

Are we going to automatically induct Long Chamberlain this season? Seems I remember us talking about adding him automatically without putting him on the ballot.

Not at all!!!

By the way, I'm not intending to accept Hawaii's vote in this form. Vote correctly or don't vote. That's how I feel about it. If Recte sees it otherwise, please feel free to overrule.

We can "induct" him on the forums, but we can't actually induct him in-game because he doesn't exist.

Long Chamberlain

Played 12 seasons prior to the revival of the MBWBA in 1995. He somehow disappeared from the game when the league restarted. Was the career homeruns leader with 560 over 12 seasons. Is the single season homerun king with 73 hit in 1986. He is also the single season RBI king with 182 driven in in 1986. He drove in over 100 RBI 9 times and hit more than 40 homeruns on 8 occassions. It would be safe to say this guy would likely possess every power record the league has had he not vanished from the file since he was only 30 years old. I brought him back prior to the 2007 season as a hitting coach for my Rookie League team.

Nothing on him exists in the history of the MBWBA. You have to look in the original MBWBA CATO to find any mention of him.

Fine by me. I don't think I have ever looked at the HOF in-game or with the HTML. I only look at it through Moonie's forum post.
