1998 HOF Final Tally

Post by jcrmoon42 » Tue Jan 25, 2011 2:43 pm

Congratulations to Sawyer Silk and Henry Jones for their election to the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, this will be the last year on the ballot for Corey Aubrey, an outstanding pitcher and two time POY who just didn't quite have the career totals to gain support. He finished a strong third in this year's voting. Interestingly, somebody decided that Jones, with the most RBI and second most homers in league history, was only worthy of 13th place on the ballot. I will allow that voter to explain themselves if they so choose. Sounds like a personal vendetta to me!

Here is your final tally. 460 points required for election.

Sawyer Silk - (1)-9, (2)-6, (3)-1, Total - 720
Henry Jones - (1)-6, (2)-6, (3)-3, (13)-1, Total - 645

Can't argue with the two guys who earn enshrinement.

Davis Birch was one of my favorite Kernels for years. He's not a HOFer, but it's great to see him on the ballot.

Santos and Everett are getting the shaft by these voters. Some of us old timers need to remind the voters of the awesome gap power of Santos, and the fact that Everett is one of the top closers in MBBA History.

It would have been fun to see some actual discussion of the ballot. Maybe next time.

It may be worth putting together a list of "shouldas" in terms of next year's ballot and perhaps someone who needs PPTs can do a write-up on them. I'll volunteer to work on some of this even though I'm not overly familiar with some of the players. I will plead ignorance and perhaps my ballot reflects that.
