2018, Hall of Fame Voting Results

Post by recte44 » Sun Dec 07, 2014 1:37 pm

Notes
- We had two teams not vote: OMA and VAN.
- Rogelio Morales was on the ballot but shouldn't have been since he's still active, so he'll be back again.
- This was our biggest class ever, with seven inductees, including two from the Vancouver Mounties legendary Joe Geoghegan era.

Your inductees are:

Image
Paul Barfoot, C, Long Beach Surfers
Inducted with 100% of the vote (how many of those have there been?). Ranks eighth all time on the hits list with 3235 career hits. The 2001 Silk Award winner. A six time Zimmer Award winner (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2013) and a six time All-Star (2001, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011).

Image
Roman Empire, SS, Montreal Blazers
Got 95.45% of the vote. Tough call on which hat to pick, but his peak years and most years were spent with the Blazers so that's the pick. A two time Zimmer Award winner (2004, 2008) and a nine time All-Star (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007). His 3004 hits make him the thirteenth and final member of the current 3000 hit club in MBBA history.

Image
Douglas Newhouse, 2B, Vancouver Mounties
Got 95.45% of the vote. Spent his entire 20 year MBBA career with the Mounties. The 2001 Silk Award winner for the JL. Won his only Zimmer Award in 2011. He was an All-Star eleven times (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012). He's the MBBA All-Time leader in Walks with 2050, and is sixth All-Time with 916 stolen bases. He was the heart and soul of a Mounties team that went to four Landis Memorial Series' during his time, winning two.

Image
Robbie Sargent, P, Vancouver Mounties
Got 90.91% of the vote. Spent his entire 19 year MBBA career with the Mounties. A two time winner of the JL Nebraska Award (2005, 2010) and a two time Zimmer Award winner (2009, 2012). Was named to eight All-Star teams (1999, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011). Second All-Time in wins with 291, which given Steve Nebraska's record of 382, should be effectively looked at as a record in and of itself.

Image
Brendan Meyer, P, Greenville Moonshiners
Elected with 90.91% of the vote. Tougher to pick which team he'd go in with, but his most dominant years were with Greenville. Second All-Time in saves with 585. The MBBA's All-Time career leader in Games Pitched with 1420. Won the Gunga Award in 2006. A nine time All-Star (1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010).

Image
Johnnie Iraq, CF, Calgary Marauders
Elected with 86.36% of the vote. Spent his entire 17 year career with the Marauders. Won three Zimmer Awards (1998, 2001, 2002). A seven time All-Star (1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008). Ranks eleventh on the modern day career WAR leaderboard, which summarizes how valuable he was despite not being toward the tops of any single career counting stat list.

Image
Jeremy Hunter, C, Buffalo Bison
Elected with 81.82% of the vote. Spent his entire sixteen year career with the Bison. Won one Zimmer Award (2000). Elected to seven All-Star Games (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009). Perhaps the finest offensive catcher of his generation, and incredibly durable and consistent throughout his career.

The only two franchises to NOT have a Hall of Famer representing them?
(scroll down for answer)

Valencia and Birmingham (Sheehan should solve the Bandits outage soon enough).
