2018, Hall of Fame Voting

Post by recte44 » Mon Nov 10, 2014 8:08 am

With Moonie gone, we're going to do this a little differently. We'll use the HOF Voting in OOTPOU.
http://baseballretrospective.com/cgi-bi ... l?page=hof

You can vote for as many as you want. 75% needed for election. Players will stay on the ballot for 10 seasons.

Voting due sim before AS Game!

Enjoy! :)

I'll share my ballot (why not):

Larry Lasalle
Roman Empire
Jessie Wright
Paul Barfoot
Johnnie Iraq
Douglas Newhouse
Armando Santos
Shane Wookey
Jeremy Hunter

I think there will be some guys that probably should have gotten in over the years that can get added in the next few years with the new voting method. The nine above are all certainly Hall-worthy, but for whatever reason weren't slam dunks in the previous voting method.

First year on the ballot for Empire, Barfoot, Newhouse. All three should be shoo-ins if anyone's been paying attention to the last two decades of MBBA action.

I voted for a LOT more guys; I had a system of cutoffs. All your guys were on my list. I voted for the rest if only to try to keep them on the ballot for another year.

Shoot. I would've shared mine but I can't see it again.. Many of mine were the same as Rectes. I think I voted for 8 or 9 guys this time. I did throw a few bones towards Justin Marco and Ted Dever, but don't expect either to make it.

Empire, Barfoot, and Newhouse should be locks. I'd love to see Wright get in. But don't think he will because of his overall stats.

Yeah, I think that might be a little quirk. We'll deal with it as it comes up.

Will all players stay on for 10 seasons, or only those with votes? I know this is beyond your control, but that is ALOT of names to weed through. I wouldnt mind so much if it is just this initial cut, and then next year its only those who got votes and the new class...

Just a question. I like this method though.

After a while there won't be that many names, but it is what it is. I guess we'll see how it works over time.

I can also increase some of the minimums, etc. to shrink the ballot moving forward, but I wanted a lot of guys on it this time just to see if we missed anyone over the years.

I didn't mind it. I liked being able to compare guys.

Some VERY clear-cut choices here and then lots of grey area.
Phoenix Talons, 1987-1994 (614-682, .474). 1993 JL Wildcard Winner.
Atlantic City Gamblers, 2010-2030. 2022 MBWBA Champions. '10, '15, '22, '23, '25, '28 FLA Champions. 2010, 2024 FL Cartwright Cup Winners.

This was fun... Not as formal as our past process but a little easier to compare players.

For some reason it completely reset at the 1st of the year and lost everyone.

So, we need to do it over:
