Join Ron Collins and Kurt Imber as they spend way too much time talking about the Heartland -- and all the rest of the divisions -- and Free Agency.

If you've made a signing, you should find it sliced and diced here!

Loved the fair analysis of what I've been up to. I'm waiting on how the sim does tonight so I can crank out some more explanation of my thinking.

You basically hit the nail on the head for why I signed those guys. Cheap, something to offer to try and fix my bullpen that was not the best last year, as well as replacing the production from the departing Jimmy Bumble.

“Thumbs sideways” on Ritchie is about accurate. I have cash. I needed a 3B. Yes - it’s an overpay. But…meh. Hope he helps fill a hole.

Ha. Loved this. Went all in with my baseball philosophy in mind with the L'Arch signing. Needed a LHB DH and who better to fit that role in SAC than this unicorn (the $7m was due to the idiot in Rocky Mountain bidding him up). Kouros may just end up back in the FA pool... maybe it'll be a $1.7m sign and retire deal? We'll see.

Regarding my 5th starter: Vidaca will absolutely pitch in the same role as last season. Why mess with something that overwhelmingly worked? Currently sitting with the idea of a committee approach with the 5th starter. Likely will bring up a lefty and platoon him and Angus Trew depending on matchup. I want to get Trew more innings and his bullpen innings can be made up by giving Werberg, Ayala, and Craig more innings. Not too worried about this unless the injury bug bites the other four.

L'Arch in SAC with Shoeless seems like a match made in heaven.

I don’t know what to make of it. I’ve had to build my team without a farm for several years. I didn’t think I churn my roster enough but this speaks otherwise. Maybe I should take it I have an eye for talent since these guys are all being signed? But I can’t think of too many guys who’ve left and found a lot of success so buyer beware!

2+ hour pod and no mention of Des Moines.

Right where we want to be… under the radar again.

Have you signed anybody yet? I realized after you were the only team we didn’t mention.

Excellent work.

Enjoyed the commentary about the best division in baseball at the end there. Very competitive division this season.

Finally got around to listening.

Haney..... Ron nailed it. I need a guy like Haney to get to the next level. I think I went a bit overboard with the contract, but I can afford the worst case scenario. I almost feel this is a one year deal no matter what. If he plays well, he'll opt out. If he lumps, I probably cut him as he is already not worth $20 million. Just trying to use my cash excess on something besides 30 potential 22 year old free agents like everyone else is doing.

Hernandez... I was eyeing him up since last season. When healthy he has been a 3-4 WAR player. His movement lumped from 8 to 6, but I have seen a lot of players with long term injuries gain that back. Just taking a risk on our #5 spot in the rotation. We have a bunch of decent backend pitchers coming up. So if Hernandez gets hurt again, we'll have an extremely popular prankster occupying a free roster spot(DL) while we give the kids a chance. Or we can use his expiring contract as an asset at the trade deadline.
