While talking about it while recording, I realize I probably have Parmar too high. Should probably be more like:
3. RHP Morris Chapa
4. CF Alonso Martinez
5. LHP Candrata Parmar
6. 1B Naoaki Kurioka

I'm going to need to stop dealing away prospects so I could be on one of these LOL

Yeah, some teams are gonna be tough to find 10 “prospects.”

Re: Brewster's Babies | 55.01 San Fernando Bears
Now to post my response. First of all, thanks for doing this, Chad! It was so thrilling to hear my imaginary team being discussed in podcast format (even if it meant putting up with your voice . I think you did a great job.
For reference, I posted my top 25 Bears prospects as a series on our team new page. Now to compare various lists:
My top 10
1) Etugrul Inonu
2) Morris Chapa
3) Candrata Parmar
4) Tommy Harrison
5) Frank Jardine
6) Javier Manuel
7) Miguel Montero
8) Alvin Anstey
9) Ken Bautista
10) Jose Perez
Keep in mind I created my list before the offseason so there have been some acquisitions and bumps/lumps. Myung-joo Pak was given a $13M signing bonus this offseason and is at least an honorable mention IMO. I'll assume you didn't want to mention Rashad bin Hadad because I rule 5 picked him from you hehe. I give a lot of weight to age and a fair amount to production, whereas it sounded like you mostly focused on ratings.
Frank Jardine was ranked as high as he is purely for draft pedigree but I've got no problem dropping him out of the top 10 as others have bumped. Miguel Montero is an example of a prospect who I think is worth ranking somewhat highly due to production. I like him more than Kurioka and Rose because for a likely short side platoon player he's younger and can play defense. Alvin Anstey has poor intangibles and his lack of movement means I strongly doubt he'll hold up in my park but he's produced. Like Jardine, he's been passed by bumpers.
Chad's adjusted top 10
1) Michael Schultz
2) Etugrul Inonu
3) Morris Chapa
4) Alonso Martinez
5) Candrata Parmar
6) Naoki Kurioka
7) Tommy Harrison
8) Javier Manuel
9) Tynan Rose
10) Ken Bautista
I had Michael Schultz ranked 13th because he was only halfway done with his bumping spree and he's limited as a RH hitter who doesn't play much defense. I think he's one of the few prospects (along with Kurioka) the game overrates in my system. I had Tynan Rose ranked 16th and Alonso Martinez 11th. Martinez has bumped slightly since then and I worry about his advanced age. I've been burned so many times in OOTP by players in their mid-20s who still have untapped potential.
Additional context on Kurioka is that I did an age discovery on him last offseason and rolled high enough to reduce his age by two years. He'd be 27 years old otherwise. On my list he was an honorable mention. I'm worried he's just about reached AAAA territory so hit me up if anybody especially likes him!
OOTP's top 10
1) Michael Schultz
2) Candrata Parmar
3) Naoki Kurioka
4) Etugrul Inonu
5) Morris Chapa
6) Myung-joo Pak
7) Javier Manuel
8) Rashad bin Hadad
9) Ken Bautista
10) Tommy Harrison
Some other guys worth being in the conversation at this point (mid April 2055):
Ricardo Espinosa if we're going to give guys who can't play defense consideration at least he'd play on the long side of a platoon.
Omar Thind can't sleep on 10 potential stuff from a starter and only 20 years old.

Re: Brewster's Babies | 55.01 San Fernando Bears
I don’t like Pak. Also, I hate calling bin Hadad a prospect still. He’s been with my org for so long and second time he was rule fived. But I suppose he’s same boat as Kurioka and didn’t realize he was a beneficiary of the age change. That’s cool.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:44 pmNow to post my response. Always fun to hear some BBA podcasts.
What a great job Kurt has done sifting through the released player list, week by week, to try to find some diamonds in the rough. Happy to see some bumpers in there to reward him for the extra work put in.

I don’t think Schultz is overrated anymore. He’s obliterated A and AA and is now 80 POT.

He's got good enough splits to play everyday and looks like he might get to 11 power VS LHP. Should hit about 50 HR a year in your park.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 10:31 pmI don’t think Schultz is overrated anymore. He’s obliterated A and AA and is now 80 POT.
