Im listening to the part now where you discuss rankings, I can do some more team by team comparisons as well and post them on here. Also i think starting in 2046 we will see point totals that more accurately reflect MLB totals (where generally you see 15-20 guys over 500 at any given time).

Definitely agree with the assessment on the de la Cruz deal. I think it's a very good deal for both sides, especially since de la Cruz gives Louisville a third established guy to go with Mendoza, and Hugh + Kim are a pretty good return for a guy who was probably asking in the $20 million range.
I will have to admit that I was disappointed that you didn't include the Kelly deal.

de la Cruz will thrive with the short porch in RF in Louisville.

We skipped a few. We'll try to look at them next time unless we are overloaded with topicsaaronweiner wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:42 amDefinitely agree with the assessment on the de la Cruz deal. i will be doing a breakdown using numbers at the all-star break in the next day or two in more detail, but since it was brought up in the pod here are the numbers for some of the POR/ELP guys as of July 1st.
82. Gerald Sizemore (392.636)
105. Hector Amaral (376.381)
110. Ramon Guerrero (373.732)
So yes Sizemore pulled significantly ahead over the month of June.

re: comp picks
At one time, I was wholeheartedly against them. I believe I even made it a topic on my podcast and gave it one star. But, I relented my negativity and understand the gamesmanship around them now. Although, I'd still be up for abolishing them all together (especially comp B picks) and making comp A's threshold even higher. One to four a season should be all.
Taking league competitiveness into account, a team like El Paso who is selecting first in the draft for a reason, shouldn't need to wait for teams who don't need an additional first round pick to make their additional selection before picking again.
Also, I believe the trade market would benefit from teams being more antsy to move their guys if they weren't going to receive the comp pick. We're seeing it a bit now since the last several drafts haven't really provided top talent guys with comp picks, resulting in teams (me included) opting to move my guys prior to the trade deadline.
Either way, it's a game with a set of rules, and we all play by them.

Comp picks are garbage and should be trashed. If you want value for a player about to walk then trade him.

I'm always relieved when you skip my deals ...
Nice podcast, once again! I will admit, I'm addicted to Randy's pitching feature, too. Moelling has finally passed Bates - up to No. 19 in the July 1 numbers, while Bates has slipped to 38th. The Chicago pitching staff is hampered in these rankings, I think, because everyone but Moelling is on a pitch count to A. prevent injuries and B. drive innings to the bullpen. Although with the bullpen faltering a bit in recent sims, I may need to adjust that a bit ...

I largely agree. With the caveat of having them attached to guys who ran out of arb making sense for a league parity reason. It makes sense to maintain franchise health by not letting guys who ran out of arb walk for free. That almost never happens anyway.

When you combine the FA comp picks with the unsigned comp picks it makes the first round unbearable...unless, of course, if you have those picks
I intentionally did not sign our first round pick in last year's draft so I would have two first round picks in this year's stacked draft.

The biggest reason you suffer is because teams with low scoring parks have a higher expected game score, which drags down the adjusted game score (which is used for calculations).HoosierVic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:17 pmI'm always relieved when you skip my deals ...

Recently, it's mostly been the unsigned comp picks making the first round long. I think as people get used to the less talented drafts, that will get better. I hope.HerbD wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 3:14 pmWhen you combine the FA comp picks with the unsigned comp picks it makes the first round unbearable...unless, of course, if you have those picks
