Excellent as always.
I just don't have a great heir to Fabre. I was on the fence about a couple options, but in the end I decided to overpay a bit and nail down Fabre. He's not the best in the league, but I feel like the position is pretty heavily paid for at the top, so I don't hate my deal for him. Hopefully, three years will give me enough time to do some patchwork at the position.

I can’t speak for anyone else but the Jon Reed thing is about potentially wasted cap space not wasted money for me. Big difference in my opinion.

I thought about it along the same lines as you when it came to structuring the contract. I was solely looking at cap management and not even considering the bonus money side of things.

Cap management is interesting in the short term because the decision to invest pay in those cases can be good, depending on timing and what else is available.
Reed's contract is a cap management strategy.

Re: What's Brewing In The Brewster. Season 2, Episode 9
I have known for 3-4 seasons now that this upcoming offseason was going to be decision time for me, and I structured my team accordingly. If I had fallen off the cliff (which I didnt think I would but was always a possibility), I could have blown it up prior to the year or even last year and had a pretty good reset.
