GM's Corner - Ep 22 (Louisville)

Explicit Warning: Cursing ensues, perhaps best not listened to if you're around impressionable kids you prefer to be not impressed!

This one's a little longer than the usual GM's corner (1:17), but we were having fun and I thought you'd find it entertaining enough...so...

Stephen Shaw and I talk about his entry into the BBA, our time together in the old FOBL (Twisted and Infantile Since 2001!), nuances of OOTP, and the future of the Sluggers. Somewhere along the way, Stephen might mention trading draft picks.

Great,

I've been loving these podcasts since I joined. They offer a really interesting insight into the league. Very helpful for newcomers like myself.

Yeah, sorry. I used to narrate live sims for FOBL on Yahoo Messenger, and we had a new owner attending his first one. Unfortunately, he had his 5-year-old on his lap as they listened together. I think they lasted about 90 seconds before he hustled him out of the room.

I try to warn people now that my internal filter is more of a sieve.

That was fun...I couldn’t tell at all the rapport you two have. ;)

Stephen, you should set your Slack away notification to “Sorry, but I’m silently beating my drum in my apartment”.

Yeah but it's not silent, to the consternation of my neighbors

Wait, high CON, high GAP, high AVK, good glove guys who can run? Did someone just steal MY BBA playbook? That has literally never happened before. Glad to see we're getting more smart people in the league finally. 😜

Who knew five-tool players would be in such demand?

WOW! I can imagine if we put Ted and Steve in the same room with Marcus - LOL. This podcast went "blue" pretty quick. Good stuff! :)

Great listen. I feel like I have a somewhat unique perspective here because even though I am a Brewster newbie, I have had contact with Ron and Stephen in the past with FOBL. I randomly messaged Ron on the OOTP forum not long ago and he was kind enough to reply back and also with a link to the BBA. I was happy to see Stephen's name in the BBA too.

With FOBL, I was a flake there, but I loved that league and the setup. And I felt Ron and Stephen gave so much to FOBL, so I feel like you two guys were a big reason why I liked that league so much even though I had an infinitesimal part in it. I remember you guys were kind enough to answer a bunch of my questions back in the day with FOBL. I was always really sorry to see that FOBL ended. It seemed like you guys had a community that was so active. Guess it just wasn't the right time, the two times I came as a general manager in FOBL. I'm sure the quarantine is helping me acclimate with Brewster, but I've taken to the game much quicker this time. Stats+ has been a huge boon.
