The Pacific is better than the Heartland?

Hmmm…I agree that the JLA, the Pacific, and the Heartland are probably the three strongest divisions. It’s hard to compare the Frick and the Johnson since we play few games against each other, and those games are only in one division, so we’ll leave that slide for now.

We’ll see what happens in the playoffs, but to compare the Heartland and the Pacific you can just add up the wins and losses, which gives you Heartland 432, Pacific 417. Head-to-Head, the Heartland went 132-116 against Pacific Division rivals (with only Madison having a losing record...edited to note I erred here...TWC was also sub-.500 vs. the Pacific).

Yes, Long Beach beat Twin Cities for the last slot, but you’d be hard pressed to say Long Beach was better than Twin Cities (or vise versa). Bottom line, California is probably the best team in baseball right now, but I think the top three Pacific teams are on par with the top three Heartland teams right now (and again vise versa), but the bottom two Heartland teams are clearly superior to the bottom Pacific teams.

And all this is in a year where, I agree totally, that the Heartland is down.

So, no, the Pacific is not better than the Heartland—though the Pacific’s top is on par with us. [grin]

I listen to all the podcasts produced by this wonderful league, I really enjoy hearing the talk that brings the league to life. Over here in Britain I can’t talk to people about the BBA like that, they’d just look at me like I’d completely lost my marbles and immediately start reporting me to various medical organisations. So I have to pretend I don’t do such things while having conversations with myself about my team at 3 am So feel free to keep the podcasts coming, I don’t really mi d whether they are long or short. The difference is that the short ones I can generally listen to in one go in bed before I go to sleep while the longer ones (like those four hour efforts) I spend most of the week listening to bits and relistening to the other segments which I missed after dozing off
