I fell asleep and so now Matt is making this slightly outdated with today's sim. Dammit. Here are the standings as they existed at the time this was recorded.

And the wild card standings

If you want to skip this year's playoff discussion to get to the debate on the fortunes of teams going forward (that I stole from Effectively Wild), skip to 41:05.

Group Yay 2034-2028
Randy: Louisville, Havana, Montreal, Las Vegas, Yellow Springs
Tyler: Charm City, Havana, Twin Cities, Las Vegas, Yellow Springs
Ted: Louisville, Montreal, New Orleans, Twin Cities, Las Vegas

Group Not So Yay 2034-2037
Randy: Atlantic City, Brooklyn, Hawaii, Huntsville, Mexico City
Tyler: Des Moines, Edmonton, Huntsville, Nashville, San Antonio
Ted: Atlantic City, Hawaii, Huntsville, San Antonio, Valencia

Finished, and of course about a day late. Oh well. Sorry to Randy and Tyler for delaying the fruits of their efforts.

No problem Ted, was still fun...and now everyone can laugh at us as they listen instead of waiting until the next sim :D

And Randy, it isn't like we really disagreed with Long Beach being done.

Mexico City may or may not win a Landis, but I think they will be in the playoffs soon. Omaha is set up to be good for several seasons, and Twin Cities is going to be very good. These guys are going to carry the Heartland soon. :)

I feel their was an appropriate amount of twin cities love on the pod.

Tyler, you're not getting kicked out of the league.

Also, was that a toilet flush I heard in there? :)

Randy- hearing you bitch about your bullpen actually motivated me to look at it. And wow, that's not great. :)

Why isn't Ed Garcia getting a look here in September?
Or Sanchez? I'd also be tempted to take a look at Subadio as a reliever, he's a strange one but maybe?

The pen will get a playoff boost with osaragi and whichever starter I decide to bench (right now leaning nunez), and with Gibson back that should be enough to scrape by.

Ugh- why did I get started on this....now I can not stop. Checked out the free agent scrapheap, and there's some potential upgrades hanging out there too....

40 year old Miguel Lara would be a huge upgrade for setup. Sure, he sucked eggs for Omaha this year but it took me about 0.2 seconds to see why (.360 BABIP compared to career .299 BABIP).

I'll give you one more...why hasn't a guy like Juan Urdiano found a job yet when there's bullpens like yours?

About 75% through

Lol... it was cool to listen to. I wonder if GM’s irl like hearing about their teams in the news too.

The window is just opening... just need to not screw it up or run into bad luck. Which happens

Very good thing to listen to this morning at work! Also nice to hear Omaha at least mentioned briefly when discussing 5 year outlooks compared to when I took the team over.

Enjoyed the wildcard discussion! Can't believe were only a game out now.

Man, I was a little surprised to hear my team come up on so many 'Not in the next 4 years' lists. If that's the case there's going to be a bunch of very good young pitchers on the block in the next few years. In all seriousness I fully understand the difficulty of competing in the current landscape in the Heartland, especially when I have no answers at C or SS. I would be very disappointed, however, if my playoff drought continues to 2038.

I think it's probably more of a reflection of the season you're having this year, combined with how difficult that division currently is. It's also easy to overlook your pitching prospect depth because there aren't any big eye poppers there. In retrospect thought, it's deeper than I thought and quite good.
